Senator Kennedy Proposes NAS Study to Evaluate Offshore Wind Development

Here's a letter from Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA) to Senator Pete Dominici, Chair of the Senate Energy Committee asking that $500,000 be appropriated to allow the National Academy of Sciences to study the need for offshore renewable development, specifically to evaluate the need for new sources of alternative energy and the potential costs to preservation of state and federal coastal areas. The National Academy of Sciences will be holding a symposium on offshore issues on March 19, 2003 in Washington DC - more details are set forth in the preceding post.
