Ocean Management Task Force Makes Recommendations for Ocean Zones
The Massachusetts Ocean Management Task Force is ready to make recommendations on zoing the ocean and uses according to this Boston Globe article,
State panel to recommend zoning ocean and its uses, (March 23, 2004). Following a comment period of at least 30 days, the committee will consider submission of draft legislation. Other components of the plan in addition to the recommended legislation include (1) directing Massachusetts to better map the seafloor and establish an inventory of uses and resources and (2) encouraging cooperation between the state and federal government in managing waters and fish species, which do not abide by the imaginary boundary line between state and federal waters. Task force have equated their proposal with the comprehensive planning and management schemes that go on in the vast public lands of the West.
